Initial Thoughts

Do I really need to explain why I picked up this book? To those who know me, they know that I LOVE THE LORIEN LEGACIES. To be honest, I've never read the first book (pls don't get mad) but I saw the movie. I was hooked when I bought the second book (Power of Six), thinking it was a standalone novel. And since then, I've been reading each and every one of the books, because they're just so addicting!

The sixth book in the thrilling, action-packed, New York Times bestselling I Am Number Four series! For years the Garde have fought the Mogadorians in secret. Now all of that has changed. The invasion has begun. If the Garde can't find a way to stop the Mogs, humanity will suffer the same fate as the Lorien: annihilation.

There is still hope. When the Elders sent the Garde to Earth, they had a plan—one which the Garde are finally starting to understand. In the climax of The Revenge of Seven, a group of the Garde traveled to an ancient pyramid in Mexico known to their people as the Sanctuary. There they awoke a power that had been hidden within our planet for generations. Now this power can save the world . . . or destroy it. It will all depend on who wields it.

I don't even know what to say. This book was just...I feel lots of feels right now, and I have no idea what to here is my attempt to make a coherent review out of it!

I absolutely loved ALL the characters in this book. I especially love how Setrakus Ra was given some more background information, and how he was further characterised, his motivations being more and more apparent in this book. Although Marina did get on my nerves (SHE'S SO PREACHY), I didn't mind it so much, mainly because she didn't have a POV this time, and she was featured very little (thank the heavens!).

I was also super happy that Sarah died - I've actually been expecting her to die for quite some time now (the past two books or so?) just because the girlfriend/boyfriend/special one usually dies in these kinds of books? Although I know if Sarah died two or three books ago, I'd be groaning because it plays into that trope, I'm so happy that Pittacus Lore dragged her out in those books, because I kept wondering if she would actually die or not xD

I think there's a real trend with these Lorien Legacies books. The pacing generally seems really slow at the start for me, and then by the time I've hit the halfway mark, I cannot put this down. I'm not even kidding here, I stayed up till 3am reading this book, because it was just so engrossing
Pittacus Lore adds more Lorien lore (did you see what I did there?? ) towards the end, and I think that's what really got me addicted to this book after the midpoint. I couldn't stop flipping the pages because there was just so much more to learn
Plus, I stayed up even later (4am) thinking about the ending because damn, that ending was the ending I've been waiting for AGES to happen. It was the PERFECT ending. Furthermore, the title made sense. That's one of my favourite things about books - when the title makes so much sense!

Writing Style

The writing style was easy to read, like it always is. I kinda got thrown off a bit at the start because I was like "whoa, what happened last time??", but after the first few pages, I got reaquainted with this world. That's the one fault of these Lorien Legacy books - despite being a year (or more) in between each book, there is no clear recap at the start of each book. Makes for a bit of a disorienting read at first!

I was really happy with the use of THREE Points of Views though - I think in previous books, there are usually a lot more than that - and those have always really confused me. As always, however, I appreciate the use of different text to make the different POVs distinctive :)

The writing style is also smooth, concise and just easy to read in general - it made it so much easier to read the book, and delve back into John and Six's world!

Entertainment Value

Fate of Ten was a book that I was a bit "eh" on after having read Revenge of Seven - it wasn't so engaging for me. Although there was a slow start to Fate of Ten - it rapidly sped up, and I was FLYING through this book! The plot was great, the characters even better,

Final Thoughts

I'M SO HYPED FOR THE NEXT BOOK TO COME OUT IN SEPTEMBER THIS YEAR - I mean United As One?? SUCH A COOL TITLE. Though I'm kinda sad that the number Eight doesn't feature in a book... :(
Anyway, I would read this book if you've read the previous books...not if you haven't read the previous books. Like I said earlier, there isn't much recap on the events of previous books, so if you start the series from this book, you're probably going to be overwhelmed and a tiny bit confused by the jargon!
