When I First Saw You (or WIFSY) is a meme held over by Sophie at Sailing through Books and Izel at A Bookish Flower. The aim of the game is to write up a synopsis for a given cover, and then compare it to the actual cover of a book! Sounds fun right?

The Book For This Week is...

The Only Thing Worse Than Me Is You, by Lily Anderson

My Synopsis

Gwyneth Jean Grey is all kinds of messed up. Depressed, and on all sorts of medication, she doesn't want to live. School, friends...they're overwhelming her, when all she wants to do is lie in bed all day, and pretend she doesn't exist.

Until one day, she meets Jackson Blumenthal. Supportive and understanding of everything she's going through, he's the ideal guy in every way. And somehow, he likes her too.

But is Jackson really as perfect as he seems? Over the past few months, they've been arguing all day. Jackson demeans her - but she can't help but think that every word he says is true.

Gwyneth has to get better and figure out what to do about their relationship, as well as excel at school and make friends. Sometimes, life is just too hard.

A moving novel about mental illness, first loves and finding who you are, from debut author, Lily Anderson.

The Actual Synopsis

Trixie Watson has two very important goals for senior year: to finally save enough to buy the set of Doctor Who figurines at the local comic books store, and to place third in her class and knock Ben West--and his horrendous new mustache that he spent all summer growing--down to number four.

Trixie will do anything to get her name ranked over Ben's, including give up sleep and comic books--well, maybe not comic books--but definitely sleep. After all, the war of Watson v. West is as vicious as the Doctor v. Daleks and Browncoats v. Alliance combined, and it goes all the way back to the infamous monkey bars incident in the first grade. Over a decade later, it's time to declare a champion once and for all.

The war is Trixie's for the winning, until her best friend starts dating Ben's best friend and the two are unceremoniously dumped together and told to play nice. Finding common ground is odious and tooth-pullingly-painful, but Trixie and Ben's cautious truce slowly transforms into a fandom-based tentative friendship. When Trixie's best friend gets expelled for cheating and Trixie cries foul play, however, they have to choose who to believe and which side they're on--and they might not pick the same side.

Comparing

I GOT IT COMPLETELY WRONG. I think I like my synopsis better. HAHA I'm being arrogant xD But yeah, I guess I should have taken a hint from the comic-esque illustrated cover heheh xD I kinda only went from the title, which spoke to me on a personal level.

What would you have written?  Did you like my synopsis? Did you prefer the actual synopsis? Let me know in the comments below!

Keep reading and loving books!
